The UK Trade & Investment team in the Consulate General provides the highest quality commercial support and advice. We deliver a range of services for UKTI (see the About Us button). A full list of who we are and what sectors we cover appears under the Contact Us button. Or you can see a full list of the services we provide by accessing the Services button.

We have two main customer bases -

  • UK companies keen to export (more) to or invest in New Zealand
  • NZ companies interested in investing in UK to grow their business
    in the European Union

Our close bilateral ties are the bedrock of a growing trade relationship worth more than $2.4 billion. We are not simply markets for each others' goods and investments - companies in both countries see collaboration and partnership as a key to a successful future. The enlargement of the EU opens the door to an even larger market for New Zealand goods and services, using the UK as a springboard. There have been several encouraging examples of British and NZ companies working together to develop product, test ideas, and refine processes.

Now, supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI), NZ companies are being actively encouraged to look at links with, and in, the UK. An MOU between UKTI and NZTE signed in March 2005 was expanded in March 2006. This provides access for NZ companies to UKTI support. This will encourage more NZ companies to look at the UK as a place to invest and make it easier to tackle the EU markets more easily from a UK base than from New Zealand.
